Travelling light

I just so happened to catch woman's hour one day last week when they were discussing packing for holidays. One man said all he needed was a pair of trunks and a book...much to the alarm of the others on the show who enquired about whether he also took spare pants. The answer was a slightly defensive no with some lame attempt at justification. In contrast, a woman told her own tale of packing - 12 bikins no less. So this led me to think...how will I fare?

Today I found out the answer...Terrible!! I managed to whittle it down to 2 pairs of winter boots, a very impractical but lovely pair of purple boots, 3 other pairs of school shoes,a pair of nice heels, 3 pairs of sandals, some flip-flops, my running shoes and some slippers. Then came the clothes - I had to be fairly ruthless but I still think I'll need to reappriase the situation in the morning as one of my cases still won't shut. I refuse to take out my earmuffs, American dictionary, travel journal, my lovingly made-by-my-mother kindle case, pg tips, marmite or cadbury's but have already sacrificed one of my toblerones...oh the tragedy!!! I think its fair to say that I would never make it as an anti-materialist!

I'm about to spend the last night in my own bed and it still doesn't quite feel real. The knowledge that friends and family are on skype and just an email away makes it a lot less daunting. Let's just hope they let me in...

Last day at Bliss...

One day left at Bliss. Tomorrow at quarter to 8, I think the reality will sink in...I won't be unlocking that big red door again for 12 months, walking through familiar corridors and into my lovely pink classroom. Instead the unknown awaits in Cumberland Center...watch this space!
